Manchester United: Ten Hag supports Onana after blunder against Galatasaray
André Onana made another mistake during Manchester United’s 3-3 draw against Galatasaray on Wednesday in the Champions League. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has been going through a tough period for quite some time now. Some Manchester United fans blamed Andre Onana for the draw. As the bottom team in their group, the Red Devils needed a victory against Galatasaray to keep their European journey alive.
Initially, Andre Onana made a crucial save in the 15th minute after a well-delivered corner by the Turks.
However, he was helpless against a brilliant free-kick by the crafty Hakim Ziyech. Onana’s distribution with his feet was subpar, and he committed a significant blunder on another free-kick from the Moroccan, letting the ball slip past him. This inconsistency is what can be criticized in Andre Onana’s performance.
After the match, Red Devils’ coach Erik Ten Hag came to the defense of his goalkeeper.
«André is doing well. As I said, it’s not about individuals. Certainly, individual mistakes in football can make a difference, and you take responsibility for them, but it’s always about the team», stated the Dutch coach.
