Manchester City triumphs in Derby against Manchester United: A 3-1 victory at Etihad stadium

In the 27th matchday of the Premier League, Manchester United faced Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. In this Manchester derby, the Skyblues triumphed once again. Under pressure from league leader Liverpool, Manchester City needed a home victory on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s team took control early in the match, dominating the Red Devils’ half.

However, it was Erik Ten Hag’s men who struck first, with Marcus Rashford scoring a splendid right-footed shot assisted by Bruno Fernandes (0-1, 8′).

Despite City’s numerous offensive efforts, they were inefficient, highlighted by Erling Haaland’s missed opportunity in front of an open goal (45′). Manchester United had the advantage at halftime.

In the second half, the English champions continued to press forward. Phil Foden, with a superb curled shot, equalized for Manchester City (1-1, 56′).

Maintaining control, City eventually turned the tide in the last ten minutes. Foden, with a left-footed shot low to the ground, doubled the lead (2-1, 80′), and Erling Haaland sealed the victory with a third goal.

The final score was 3-1. Pep Guardiola’s team closed the gap to just one point behind leaders Liverpool, while Manchester United remained in 6th place, risking further distance from Tottenham in 5th.
