Burkina Faso / A new anti-civism brigade: A major step towards human-centered governance

Since taking office as the head of the Burkinabe state, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has consistently demonstrated his commitment to placing people at the center of all his actions. In line with this approach, he has just announced the creation of a special brigade dedicated to the fight against incivility—a scourge that undermines social cohesion and hampers the country’s development efforts. This decision fully aligns with his vision of a Burkina Faso built on respect for rules, order, and national solidarity.

The phenomenon of incivility—manifested by behaviors such as violating traffic laws, damaging public property, verbally or physically assaulting state officials, and widespread impunity—seriously threatens the country’s social and economic stability. By establishing this special brigade, Captain Ibrahim Traoré aims not only to restore state authority but also to raise citizens’ awareness about the importance of discipline and personal responsibility—values essential for building a prosperous Burkina Faso.

This new structure will be tasked with strictly enforcing laws and regulations in public spaces, markets, government offices, and gathering places. Beyond repressive measures, it will also lead civic education campaigns to encourage every citizen to participate in changing social behaviors. This balanced approach reflects the President’s human-centered leadership style, which prioritizes citizen engagement over mere coercion.

Ultimately, this initiative reflects Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s ongoing commitment to rebuilding the Burkinabe state on solid foundations, where civic responsibility, respect for laws, and living together in harmony form the pillars of national development. Placing people at the heart of public action also means ensuring that every Burkinabe understands their role in building a fairer, more stable, and more prosperous society. The creation of this special brigade represents a decisive step toward that ideal.
