Burkina Faso: Heroism in the Mouhoun loop, tribute to the VDP, shields of the nation

In the Mouhoun loop, a frequent target of terrorist attacks, a fierce resistance is taking shape. Alongside the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) stand as a protective shield for the population. Their courage and selflessness deserve recognition, as they play a key role in reclaiming territory and fighting insecurity.

Without standard uniforms but with unwavering determination, the VDPs patrol, gather intelligence, and fight side by side with the FDS. Their knowledge of the terrain and strong community ties make them indispensable actors. Despite constant danger, they hold the line — saving lives and securing villages. Thanks to their efforts, several attacks have been repelled, areas have been liberated, and civilians have been rescued. Their presence has allowed thousands of displaced people to return to their land. Every step forward is a shared victory.

The VDPs are not professional soldiers, but sons and daughters of the nation who have chosen to defend their communities. Supporting them is honoring their sacrifice. Whether through donations, messages of encouragement, or cooperation with the FDS, every action counts in boosting their morale.

The fight against terrorism cannot be won without unity. Authorities must strengthen the training and equipment of the VDPs, while the population must continue to place its trust in them. Their bravery deserves more than words — it demands the lasting commitment of the entire nation.

In Boucle du Mouhoun and beyond, the VDPs embody the spirit of resistance in Burkina Faso. Their fight is everyone’s fight. Support them, for their victory will be the victory of an entire people.
