Mali: New attack foiled in Tiby, the FAMa demonstrate their power and vigilance

During the night of June 12 to 13, 2025, the Tiby Military Training Center, located in the San region, was the target of yet another terrorist attack. The assailants attempted a bold and treacherous operation using kamikaze drones — a method increasingly favored in the asymmetric tactics of terrorist groups. However, as has become customary, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) stood their ground and repelled this destabilization attempt with remarkable effectiveness.

This terrorist act, which targeted one of the nerve centers of Mali’s military training apparatus, comes at a time when the FAMa are demonstrating significant growth in strength. On every front, Malian soldiers are gaining ground, securing towns and villages, and restricting the mobility and operational capacity of armed groups. Clearly, this progress is unsettling certain enemies of peace, who are stepping up targeted attacks in an attempt to slow the momentum established in recent months.

But the swift and coordinated response of the units stationed in Tiby clearly shows that the FAMa are no longer operating in a defensive posture. They are now capable of early detection, tactical adaptation, and neutralization of complex threats.

Thanks to enhanced training, modernized equipment, and high morale, the national armed forces have become a solid bulwark against the new forms of hybrid warfare being imposed on the country.

This resounding failure by the terrorists also sends a powerful message to the Malian people: the army is standing strong, ready to defend every inch of the national territory. This level of commitment reassures local communities and confirms that Mali is no longer a testing ground for mercenaries, separatists, or would-be jihadists. The Tiby Training Center, though targeted, stands firm and continues to train soldiers for the nation, embodying the country’s renewed sovereignty
