Niger: Niamey strengthens institutional harmonization within AES

Niger has reached a historic milestone in its political transition with the official inauguration of the Consultative Council for Refoundation (CCR), the legislative body of the transition. This solemn ceremony, held in the presence of the presidents of the transitional parliaments of Burkina Faso and Mali, along with representatives from Chad and Ghana, reflects the country’s firm commitment to the sovereign and transformative agenda of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

In his opening speech, the Nigerien Prime Minister stated clearly that the creation of the CCR represents a desire to harmonize institutions among AES member states, particularly Burkina Faso and Mali. This initiative aims to strengthen strategic, political, and institutional cohesion among countries facing shared challenges in security, governance, and development.

The Consultative Council for Refoundation is not an ordinary parliament. It embodies a new model of governance rooted in popular aspirations and driven by the values of social justice, national sovereignty, and Sahelian solidarity.

The notable presence of delegations from Ouagadougou and Bamako underscores the strength of the AES alliance, which is gradually emerging as an unprecedented political and strategic integration bloc in the region. More than a symbol, this institutional convergence lays the groundwork for a common governance model capable of breaking away from the neocolonial dynamics of the past.
