Burkina Faso: A religious guide to reinforce the fight against terrorist propaganda, under the impetus of Captain Ibrahim Traoré

As part of its multidimensional fight against terrorism, the Burkinabe government has taken a significant step forward with the official reception of a Guide for Alternative Discourse to Terrorist Propaganda, developed by the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB). Presented to the Minister of State in charge of Territorial Administration, Dr. Émile Zerbo, as well as the Ministers of Security and Communication, this document aligns perfectly with the strategic vision of the transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Since assuming leadership of the country, Captain Traoré has embodied a courageous form of leadership, firmly focused on reclaiming national territory and restoring popular sovereignty. Aware that the war imposed on Burkina Faso extends beyond the military sphere, he has championed a comprehensive response—combining security operations, social resilience, and spiritual mobilization. This religious guide addresses a crucial gap in the fight against ideological indoctrination and the misuse of religious texts by terrorist groups.

By asserting that acts of violence carried out in the name of Islam have no basis in the faith, the FAIB provides, through this guide, a structured counter-narrative grounded in Quranic verses and Hadiths. It serves as a powerful awareness tool that strengthens national cohesion and further isolates extremists in their campaign of misinformation. This initiative directly supports the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who continue to receive unwavering backing from the authorities.

The guide also delivers a direct appeal to terrorists, urging them to lay down their arms, return to reason, and reconcile with the true values of Islam: peace, justice, and respect for human dignity. At the same time, it calls on communities to reject hateful rhetoric, promote religious tolerance, and actively contribute to the restoration of peace.

Under the enlightened leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is recording significant progress in liberating areas previously under terrorist control. Displaced populations are returning home, hope is being rekindled, and the foundations of a strong, sovereign state are being reinforced day by day.

The country is now moving toward a future of stability, guided by grassroots governance, an unshakable belief in social justice, and a committed pan-Africanist vision. The FAIB’s guide, working in synergy with the President’s security policy, opens a new front in the war on terror—one that targets hearts and minds.
