Mali: Draft National Charter for Peace officially submitted to President Assimi Goïta

On July 22, 2025, Mali’s Transitional President, General Assimi Goïta, received the draft of the National Charter for Peace and Reconciliation at the Bamako International Conference Center (CICB). This document, developed by a commission led by former Prime Minister Ousmane Issoufi Maïga, will serve as a guiding framework for future initiatives aimed at promoting peace, social cohesion, and reconciliation in Mali.

The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking state officials, including Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga, President of the National Transitional Council Malick Diaw, as well as members of the government, the diplomatic corps, and local authorities.

In his speech, President Goïta hailed this as a “decisive step” toward a peaceful and sovereign future, emphasizing the significance of an initiative that reflects “the deep aspirations of the Malian people.” Ousmane Issoufi Maïga, for his part, described the Head of State as the guarantor of a national process free from any external interference.
