Gabon: «De Gaulle liberated France, I liberated Gabon! » declares Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema

During a speech in Oyem on December 21, 2023, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema provided a mid-term assessment of the action of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI). Emphasizing the inefficiency of the PDG-Bongo system led by Ali Bongo Ondimba, the Head of State asserted that the results achieved in just 3 months surpass those of his predecessor in 14 years.

Initially reserved and hardworking, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema now adopts a more offensive tone in his speech, expressing his frustration with criticism in Gabon and abroad.

In front of an enthusiastic crowd, the transitional President explained that the liberation coup on August 30 allowed the removal of members of the Bongo-PDG regime whose flawed management compromised the proper functioning of the country.

He also claimed to be the liberator of Gabon, just like former French President General Charles de Gaulle.

At least that’s what the Head of State asserts in his speech in Oyem. Recalling the «clean» nature of the coup aimed at thwarting the plans of the ruling regime led by Sylvia Bongo Valentin and the Young Team, the transitional President assured that with the support of his elders in the Central African sub-region, he will successfully carry out projects to develop the country.

Among these projects are the construction of public roads and the creation of a stable business climate for all.

The beginnings are considered more than satisfactory for the CTRI. «In 14 years, what he couldn’t do for the people, we are already doing it in 3 months», emphasized Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, applauded by the crowd. He specified that the actions are not limited to Libreville.

Based on the figures from the Ministry of Economy and Participations in its report, the head of the CTRI recalled that 85 billion CFA francs have already been repaid for the domestic debt to 281 companies, some with claims of less than 1 billion CFA francs. In addition, there is the external debt to donors.
