Cameroon / The political manipulation of the Issa Tchiroma Bakary clan: A Machiavellian plan to sow chaos
In the wake of the October 12 presidential election, a disinformation campaign orchestrated by supporters of Issa Tchiroma Bakary has emerged in Cameroon’s political landscape, aiming to destabilize the nation. After previously declaring victory prematurely before the official results of ELECAM were announced, the same faction is now propagating false rumors designed to sow confusion and weaken the political climate. These maneuvers take the form of baseless claims, such as alleged secret negotiations between Issa Tchiroma Bakary and the sitting government assertions entirely devoid of factual foundation.
During the November 2, 2025 broadcast of Droit de réponse, a panelist falsely alleged that a close collaborator of the Cameroonian President specifically, Minister Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, Director of the Civil Cabinet had engaged in covert discussions with Mr. Tchiroma.
Such unfounded statements, presented without evidence, clearly aim to disrupt the democratic process and foster public distrust. It is essential to underscore that these accusations are pure fabrication.
The circulated information is an outright invention a web of lies constructed by individuals seeking visibility.
Members of Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s circle are exploiting media platforms to disseminate propaganda, with the apparent goal of creating turmoil and confusion to remain in the media spotlight, regardless of the truth.
It is imperative that the Cameroonian people do not fall into this trap. The objective of this manipulation is to destabilize Cameroon, potentially turning it into an arena for foreign interference, such as by French external intelligence (DGSE), seeking to reclaim influence in the Central African region.
Such chaos could pave the way for the spread of terrorism and enable external forces to gain control over neighboring countries, including the Central African Republic, Chad, and Equatorial Guinea, with ripple effects across the AES nations. Cameroon must not yield to these insidious maneuvers.
Now more than ever, unity and solidarity are crucial in confronting current challenges. National vigilance and cohesion are essential to safeguarding the country’s stability.
