Burkina Faso: The tomato processing plant, a symbol of Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ’s commitment to local economic development

Having initially assumed power to restore security in Burkina Faso, President of the Burkinabe Revolution, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, quickly expanded his commitment to local economic development. In the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, the capital of the Hauts-Bassins region, on September 23, 2023, President Ibrahim TRAORÉ marked a historic moment by laying the foundation stone for the tomato processing plant.

Situated in Bindougousso, in the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, this 3-hectare plant is part of the community entrepreneurship program initiated by the Head of State.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held in an atmosphere of joy and popular pride, symbolizes the government’s commitment to local economic development.

For Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, during his interactions with the press after the ceremony, this event represents a major step in realizing the Transition’s vision.

«Captain Thomas SANKARA said: “dare to invent the future»; and we add «by us and for us. This is what motivated us to embark on this endogenous development», emphasized the Head of State.

The laying of this foundation stone, only three months after the launch of the community entrepreneurship program, reflects the enthusiasm of the population for local initiatives.

Karim TRAORÉ, General Manager of the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC), also noted in his speech that the tomato processing plant represents an investment of over 5 billion XOF, with the promise of creating more than 100 direct jobs.
