Liverpool clinches Carabao Cup in thrilling Wembley Final against Chelsea

The 64th final of the English League Cup (Carabao Cup) took place this Sunday afternoon at Wembley. Liverpool and Chelsea provided an exciting match that went into extra time before seeing Liverpool secure the victory.

Despite having several players absent, Jürgen Klopp’s team showed strong opposition against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Reds started the game with determination and dominated for a few minutes before Chelsea gradually turned the tide.

In a highly charged match with chances on both sides, both clubs created opportunities to score, but with goals disallowed after VAR reviews, hits on the goalposts, goalkeeper interventions, including from Caoimhin Kelleher, and missed shots from Conor Gallagher, neither team managed to take the lead.

At the end of regular time, Liverpool and Chelsea remained tied. However, after several failed attempts in front of Liverpool’s goal, Chelsea was punished by Virgil Van Dijk in the 118th minute at the end of extra time.

On a corner taken by Tsimikas, the Dutch central defender rose above Chelsea’s defense to break the deadlock.

This time, there was no VAR intervention, and Jürgen Klopp and his players celebrated with joy.

Liverpool secured its first trophy of the season, the Carabao Cup.
