Mali: President Assimi Goïta expresses his solidarity with the Christian community

The Special Advisor to the President of the Transition, Aguibou Dembele, acting on behalf of Colonel Assimi Goïta, has delivered substantial quantities of rice, oil, and pasta to the Christian community in Mali. This action reflects the president’s commitment to allocate two-thirds of his sovereign funds to those in need, a commitment that comes to life every day in various areas.

In this period of Christian Lent, the President of the Transition’s gesture once again demonstrates his attention to the religious community.

The team responsible for implementing these initiatives brought comfort and smiles to the Archdiocese of Bamako, as well as the headquarters of the Association of Church Groups and Evangelical Protestant Missions in Mali (AGEMPEM).

The delegation, including the Minister of Religious Affairs, Worship, and Customs, Mahamadou Kone, offered significant quantities of rice, oil, and pasta to our Christian compatriots, who warmly welcomed this humanitarian gesture, expressing their blessings for Mali.

At the Archdiocese, Cardinal Jean Zerbo welcomed this manifestation of solidarity from the highest authority of the state.

He emphasized the timeliness of this assistance, coinciding with the period of Easter preparations, marked by forty days of fasting and prayers.

According to him, the President’s gesture reflects President Goïta’s deep respect for the Christian community.

The Archbishop highlighted the crucial nature of this social assistance, occurring in a challenging national context, acknowledging that such solidarity initiatives contribute to strengthening unity among all Malians.
