Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré galvanises the people to strengthen social cohesion during patriotic commitment days

The poignant speech by President Ibrahim Traoré at the official launch of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation highlighted the need to strengthen social cohesion in Burkina Faso. These days, established by the government in November 2023, aim to promote patriotic consciousness and encourage citizen engagement.

Addressing his fellow citizens, President Ibrahim Traoré emphasized the symbolic importance of the chosen dates, March 26th and October 2nd, in tribute to the father of the Revolution, Captain Thomas Sankara.

These dates serve as reminders of the struggles for independence, sovereignty, and freedom in Burkina Faso.

In paying tribute to the heroic efforts of Captain Thomas Sankara, President Ibrahim Traoré spoke of historical battles such as the rail battle, the promotion of women’s emancipation, and environmental preservation.

These ideals continue to inspire current generations in their pursuit of freedom and social justice.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré encouraged Burkinabe to use these days for collective reflection and to engage in patriotic acts.

He also emphasized the importance of fulfilling civic duties, including contributing to tax payments and actively participating in civic life.

Furthermore, President Ibrahim Traoré expressed gratitude to the combatant forces courageously defending the country.

 He praised the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, highlighting their crucial role in preserving the nation.
