KFC Nigeria apologizes after discrimination allegations

KFC Nigeria faced criticism and a temporary closure of one of its outlets following allegations of discrimination against a disabled customer. Adebola Daniel, son of former Nigerian state governor Gbenga Daniel, reported being asked to leave a KFC outlet at Lagos airport because of his wheelchair, leading to widespread outrage.

The incident prompted an investigation by the federal airport authority, resulting in the closure of the branch.

In response, KFC Nigeria issued an apology to Mr. Daniel and announced plans to train employees on inclusive and empathetic customer service.

The restaurant’s closure was mandated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), along with a requirement for KFC to display a non-discrimination policy at the restaurant before reopening.
