Mali: Gunfire around the Faladié gendarmerie, a call for vigilance from the population

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Bamako was shaken by a severe assault on the Faladié Gendarmerie School near the airport. Early in the morning, as the city was just beginning to wake, intense gunfire erupted between security forces and unidentified assailants, plunging residents of Faladié and surrounding areas into fear.

This brazen and unjustifiable attack, targeting a symbol of security and peace, underscores the persistent threat facing Malians, particularly in a capital already beleaguered by insecurity.

The security forces, who are tasked with safeguarding the nation, responded with bravery and determination to defend their position and protect the public.

In these critical times, heightened vigilance among citizens is crucial. National security relies not only on the effectiveness of defense forces but also on the active cooperation of every individual.

The public is urged to report any suspicious activity and to remain united against these destabilizing attempts.

Authorities are calling for an expedited investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this heinous act. During this challenging period, unity and alertness are essential tools in combating those who seek to instill terror.

While awaiting further updates on the situation, authorities advise the public to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in areas near the gendarmerie school and airport.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious movements to law enforcement and stay informed through official channels.
