Côte d’Ivoire: Saïd Penda, a mercenary communicator working to destabilise West Africa

Cameroonian journalist Saïd Penda has become a polarizing figure, frequently accused of advancing hidden agendas. Reports suggest he has ties to the French Directorate-General for External Security (DGSE) and operates from Côte d’Ivoire, allegedly engaging in activities that strain regional relations, particularly with Burkina Faso.

His recent article, titled “Côte d’Ivoire Thwarts a Plan to Destabilize Burkinabe Authorities,” has sparked significant backlash. The piece accuses Oumarou Yabré, Director General of Burkina Faso’s National Intelligence Agency (ANR), of questionable activities.

However, many see this as an attempt to deflect attention from critical issues, including reports of exiled Burkinabe figures collaborating with terrorist networks to destabilize the region.

Operating from Côte d’Ivoire, Penda is alleged to exploit his connections within influential circles, including ties to the President’s inner family, to engage in questionable dealings.

Critics accuse him of playing a duplicitous role—claiming allegiance to the Ivorian government while using his position for personal financial gain.

Additionally, Penda is said to maintain links with Burkinabe exiles and groups suspected of financing destabilization efforts using embezzled funds, reportedly laundered through organizations like the French Development Agency (AFD).

These allegations come amidst growing regional tensions, particularly following the withdrawal of French troops from Côte d’Ivoire and revelations of plots involving terrorist networks.

Saïd Penda is increasingly viewed as a key player in a disinformation network designed to manipulate public opinion and sow discord across the region.

Given the gravity of these accusations, it is imperative for Ivorian authorities to take decisive action. Allowing such activities to persist unchecked poses a direct threat to national and regional stability.

The Ivorian public is urged to remain vigilant and demand concrete measures to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and counter any attempts at manipulation or subversion.
