Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré emphasises food self-sufficiency

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, recently visited the Naaba-Koom 2 Camp to inspect a pineapple farming project initiated by the Republican Guard. This innovative endeavor is part of the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production and Food Self-Sufficiency.

The project aims to explore local solutions to bolster food security in Burkina Faso.

By engaging in agricultural production, the Republican Guard demonstrates a commitment to contributing beyond their traditional security mandate, actively supporting the national economy and enhancing the well-being of citizens.

During the visit, President Traoré praised the Republican Guard for its innovative approach to farming, highlighting the use of modern agricultural techniques in the project.

He emphasized the importance of replicating such initiatives across the country to achieve food self-sufficiency, a cornerstone of his sustainable development vision for Burkina Faso.

This project reflects a broader strategy to mobilize all sectors and institutions to tackle food sovereignty challenges.

It also underscores the nation’s determination to build resilience against economic and climatic crises while advancing towards sustainable solutions for community welfare.
