Ambitions and affections: Ronaldinho Hopes for Mbappé’s Ballon d’Or triumph with PSG

Ronaldinho has voiced his wish to witness Kylian Mbappé clinch the Ballon d’Or «wearing the PSG jersey». While acknowledging Mbappé’s ability to secure football’s top honor with any team, the former PSG legend has a special desire for the achievement to unfold within the Parisian club.

Sharing his sentiments with AFP during the Teqball World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, Ronaldinho expressed, «A player of his caliber can earn the Ballon d’Or in any team, but because of my affection for PSG, I’d love to see him achieve it with PSG».

In addition to appreciating Mbappé’s distinctive playing style, Ronaldinho added, I’m hopeful that he clinches it.

«He’s not just a great player but also a good friend». Having secured the third spot in this year’s Ballon d’Or rankings, Mbappé, the captain of the French national team, reached his highest placement to date.

Ronaldinho, who left an indelible mark on PSG from 2001 to 2003, believes that triumphs in major competitions will significantly bolster Mbappé’s chances of claiming the prestigious individual award.

Looking ahead to 2024, Mbappé faces a hectic schedule, including the potential climax of the Champions League with his club and Euro 2024 with the French national team.

The 24-year-old goal-scorer also grapples with an uncertain contractual future, raising speculation about a possible departure from Paris in June.

While multiple suitors, notably Real Madrid, have long coveted Mbappé, the Spanish giants seem poised as the frontrunners to secure his coveted talents.
