Vitor Osimhen Clinches 2023 African Ballon d’Or: A Stellar Season Rewarded at CAF Awards

Vitor Osimhen’s outstanding performance during the 2022-2023 season has been duly recognized at the CAF Awards 2023. Following a year marked by numerous accomplishments, the towering Nigerian striker rightfully secures the most prestigious individual accolade in African football.

Succeeding Sadio Mané, Vitor Osimhen now holds the title of African Ballon d’Or winner.

Going head-to-head with Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Egyptian sensation Mohamed Salah, the 6-foot forward etched his name into the annals of African football on the night of Monday, December 11, 2023.

Instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A triumph last season with an impressive tally of 26 goals, Vitor Osimhen demonstrated his ability to unsettle Italian defenses.

Another noteworthy achievement for the Super Eagles’ striker is concluding 2023 as the top scorer in the qualifiers for the 2023 Ivory Coast AFCON, having netted 7 goals in 8 matches.

In total, over the course of the 2022-2023 season, Osimhen scored 31 goals and provided 5 assists in 39 matches across all competitions.
