International/ Donald Trump declares new era for middle East in Riyadh speech

Former President Donald Trump proclaimed a historic turning point for the Middle East during a high-profile address in Saudi Arabia today, framing recent diplomatic breakthroughs as the foundation for a regional “golden age.”

Speaking before regional leaders, Trump credited his administration’s policies for transforming global perceptions of the Middle East from “a place of turmoil to a land of opportunity.”

His 20-minute speech emphasized economic partnerships over military interventions, claiming collaboration could yield “unprecedented prosperity” within a generation.

The event’s choreography underscored shifting alliances. A standing ovation greeted Trump’s praise of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whom he pledged to support “all the way.”

Their onstage handshake to the Village People’s YMCA soundtrack blended political theatre with nostalgia for Trump’s unorthodox diplomacy.
