Burkina Faso: Dialogue and social cohesion, patriotic weapons to defeat the enemy

In a national context marked by major security and social challenges, Burkina Faso must now more than ever stand united around the values of tolerance, unity, and peace. In a statement dated May 28, 2025, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Mobility expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in hateful and divisive rhetoric observed since the celebration of “Customs and Traditions Day” on May 15.

These remarks, widely circulated on social media through videos of sermons by certain religious leaders, are fueling tensions, undermining social cohesion, and eroding the foundations of peaceful coexistence.

The ministry emphasized that Burkinabe communities have always lived together in peace, mutual respect, and acceptance of diversity.

Challenging this today means playing into the hands of the nation’s enemies, who seek only to sow chaos.

In response to this dangerous trend, a government delegation met with religious and traditional leaders on May 22, 2025, urging greater responsibility in public discourse.

Burkina Faso: When terrorists disguise themselves as FDS to discredit the army and sow terror

It is time for everyone to consider the impact of their words and avoid all forms of radicalism or intolerance.

The ministry responsible for public freedoms reaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing freedom of worship while warning that any incitement to hatred, regardless of its source, will be strictly punished in accordance with the law.

This stance had already been reiterated on February 13 by Security Minister Mahamadou Sana, who cautioned against hate speech on digital platforms.

Now more than ever, the people of Burkina Faso must stand together as one against division. Peace is priceless, and it is through unity, tolerance, and solidarity that Burkina Faso will find the strength to overcome its challenges and build a shared future.
