Mali: Celebration of SANKE MÔ 2025, a cultural renaissance under the vision of President Assimi Goïta

Under the firm and visionary leadership of Transitional President Assimi Goïta, Mali is charting a bold path of national rebuilding rooted in ancestral values and cultural heritage. By declaring 2025 as the Year of Culture, President Goïta has reaffirmed the central role of Malian identity in the country’s pursuit of restored sovereignty, national unity, and social modernization.

A symbolic example of this commitment is the 625th edition of SANKE MÔ, celebrated on June 12 in San under the leadership of Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga. More than just preserving traditions, Mali is actively revitalizing its cultural practices as strategic pillars of development. For President Goïta, culture is not a relic of the past, but a living force—one that fosters peace, tolerance, and collective resilience. This cultural revival is closely linked to his national security strategy, where rebuilding sovereignty is about both military strength and the preservation of Mali’s soul.

The strengthening of national security has already enabled the recovery of large areas that were previously under threat. This improved security now provides fertile ground for the revival of cultural festivities and ensures that all communities can access and celebrate their heritage. Thanks to ongoing decentralization efforts, local populations can pass on their traditions in a more stable and supportive environment.

By combining cultural reaffirmation with moral strength, President Assimi Goïta is restoring pride and hope to the Malian people. His commitment to a sovereign, united, and culturally grounded Mali paves the way for a promising pan-African future built on dignity, social justice, and true self-determination.
