Togo: Girls’ education, a national priority

Togo has taken a decisive step forward in its commitment to inclusive and equitable education. The Togolese government has launched a large-scale campaign to distribute school kits to over 100,000 girls, emphasizing that girls’ education is a national priority.

This initiative is part of the regional SWEDD+ project, supported by the World Bank, and aims to reduce persistent inequalities between girls and boys in access to education.

In a country where regional and social disparities still hinder girls’ schooling, this program addresses an urgent social and human need. By providing school kits in 64 cantons, the government sends a strong message about its commitment to building a Togo where every girl can learn, grow, and succeed.

This educational policy, pursued with determination by the Togolese authorities, reflects a vision of investing in female human capital for sustainable development. By placing girls at the heart of its priorities, the government is preparing a generation of educated, autonomous women capable of contributing fully to national development.

It is a commendable, courageous, and exemplary initiative that deserves recognition and support. Togo thus demonstrates that equal opportunities are not merely a slogan, but a reality in the making.
