Togo: Significant progress in school infrastructure development under the aegis of President Faure Gnassingbé

The development of school infrastructure in Togo is one of the key priorities of President Faure Gnassingbé’s government. These efforts are highlighted in the recent statistics published by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in the 2025 Citizens’ Budget.

Between 2023 and 2024, the country saw the construction of 1,526 new classrooms spread across the five regions. This significant progress reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and providing students with a more suitable learning environment.

Special emphasis has been placed on building structured blocks of 3 and 4 classrooms—an initiative aimed at meeting the growing demand for school facilities. In 2023 alone, 1,051 classrooms were built, a remarkable figure that demonstrates President Faure Gnassingbé’s dedication to investing in education for Togo’s future.

The construction effort was particularly notable in the Savanes region, where 685 classrooms were built between 2023 and 2024.

For the current year, the Togolese government plans to intensify these efforts. According to projections, 597 new classrooms are expected to be built in 2025, with an estimated budget of over 7 billion CFA francs. This construction program includes 66 blocks of 4 classrooms and 111 blocks of 3 classrooms, further reinforcing the government’s commitment to expanding access to education.

Since coming to power, President Faure Gnassingbé has made education a top priority of his mandate. One of the most notable indicators of this policy is the continuous increase in the budget allocated to the education sector.

Through sustained investments and rigorous resource management, the president continues to work towards improving access to education—a fundamental right for every Togolese citizen. His efforts, backed by a clear vision for the future, reflect his determination to build a modern, prosperous, and forward-looking Togo.
