DRC: Kinshasa reaffirms its support for Qatar after Israeli strikes on Doha

The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) expressed, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, its deep concern over the airstrikes carried out by Israel in Doha, Qatar. These attacks, which targeted Hamas leaders present in the Qatari capital, were described by Kinshasa as a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Gulf state.

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Communication and Media, the Congolese government strongly condemned this military operation. “The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo expresses its profound concern following the Israeli airstrikes carried out today in Doha, which constitute a violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar and risk worsening an already fragile regional situation,” the statement said.

The DRC also reiterated its solidarity with the Qatari people and authorities, stressing the importance of respecting international law and the principles governing relations between states. For Kinshasa, the use of force outside the framework of international law undermines the diplomatic efforts made in recent months to achieve a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“While acknowledging the complexity of the current crisis, the Congolese government insists on the need to prioritize de-escalation, respect for international law, and the protection of civilians,” the statement added.

Furthermore, Kinshasa urged all parties involved to refrain from any actions that could compromise ongoing mediation efforts. The Congolese government called for a coordinated approach aimed at establishing a permanent ceasefire and fostering a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

This position by the DRC comes in a tense regional context, marked by a surge in attacks and reprisals between Israel and armed groups in the region. By expressing solidarity with Qatar, Kinshasa joins several other countries that have condemned the Israeli military operation, viewed as dangerous for regional stability and prospects for dialogue.
