On the eve of the opening of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, chaired a strategic meeting with the national delegation this Sunday, September 21, 2025, in New York. The meeting took place at Burkina Faso’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
During this preparatory session, Ambassador Oumarou Ganou, Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the United Nations, presented the main points of the official program as well as the key issues of this week marked by high-level exchanges. Taking the floor, the Head of Government urged the members of the delegation to embody the vision of sovereignty advocated by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. According to him, the country’s participation in this diplomatic gathering must reflect “dignity, pride, and a sense of responsibility”.
“We are here to strongly affirm the vision and sovereign choices of Burkina Faso”, he declared firmly. The Prime Minister also stressed discipline, cohesion, and team spirit, which he considered essential conditions to uphold the supreme interest of the Burkinabe people on the international stage. He further highlighted the importance of seizing every opportunity offered by this 80th session to clearly carry the voice of Burkina Faso on major global issues, whether related to peace, security, development, or international justice.
With these clear directives, the Burkinabe delegation will begin, as of Monday, September 22, a series of high-level meetings and exchanges. It intends to make a strong and coherent contribution, reflecting the country’s determination to defend its sovereignty and assert itself as a committed actor within the community of nations.
