AFCON 2023: Patrice Motsepe lauds exceptional hosting as Côte d’Ivoire excels

As the curtain falls on AFCON 2023 this Sunday, February 11, football enthusiasts are treated to a memorable spectacle as 24 nations compete fervently in a thrilling tournament. The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations has been marked by unexpected twists and intense emotional moments, leaving an enduring impact on the minds of those who have followed every stage.

Approaching the final showdown between Ivory Coast and Nigeria, accolades pour in for the Ivorian organizers.

Patrice Motsepe, fresh from the UEFA congress, shared his impressions during a press conference, unanimously confirming the exceptional quality of this edition.

«This AFCON is the best in the history of CAF, drawing attention from 80 countries. We can be proud to have orchestrated such a monumental event», declared the CAF president.

Motsepe also praised the Ivorian people for their exceptional hospitality despite some logistical challenges.

«The Ivorian people are extraordinary, passionate. During my travels across the country, I witnessed thousands of ordinary people celebrating their nation’s performance through lively dances», emphasized Motsepe, highlighting the remarkable commitment and enthusiasm of the Ivorian people throughout this unforgettable tournament.”
