Burkina Faso/Election to UNESCO: President Ibrahim Traoré’s Pan-Africanism in demand
The African candidate vying for the Director-General position at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Khaled El-Enany from Egypt, is actively seeking the support of Burkina Faso’s Transitional President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
El-Enany, a former Minister of Tourism in Egypt, made a notable visit to Burkina Faso on Thursday, March 28th.
While it’s no secret that the African candidate aims to garner backing from African nations, his deliberate outreach to Captain Ibrahim Traoré signifies strategic intent rather than mere coincidence.
Since assuming leadership in Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has exemplified a strong pan-African ethos through his decisive actions and unwavering commitment to African solidarity, unity, development, and the continent’s overall progress.
Any initiative that contributes to shaping Africa’s narrative of unity, prosperity, global influence, and active engagement will inevitably receive support from the prevailing spirit of change, including that embodied by Ibrahim Traoré.
By actively seeking Traoré’s endorsement, El-Enany acknowledges and respects the deeply rooted Pan-African values of this esteemed African and Burkinabe leader.
Reports indicate that the Egyptian candidate for the UNESCO Director-General position is currently embarking on an African tour, engaging with authorities from various countries to discuss his electoral platform.
The election for the new UNESCO Director-General is slated for 2025.
