Africa: Meeting in Bamako, prospects for the Sahel and regional development imperatives

A virtual international conference was convened in Bamako, bringing together representatives from Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Chad. The primary objective was to address the major challenges facing the Sahel region. Following the meeting, a crucial decision was reached.

Delegates carefully assessed the potential of the Sahel States Alliance (AES) across various domains, exploring how this organization could contribute to enhancing security and well-being in the region.

They exchanged ideas on ways in which the Alliance could play a decisive role in safeguarding the interests of the populations and promoting development.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants reiterated their support for the authorities of the three member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States, highlighting the promising potential of this organization as an advocate for the populations’ interests and a driver of development.

They emphasized the critical importance of security and improving living conditions as essential pillars of development for member states.

Additionally, they expressed their commitment to close collaboration to advance these shared goals.
