Teddy Riner and Clarisse Agbégnénou have been officially selected to represent France in the 2024 Paris Olympics, according to the list released by the French Judo Federation. The renowned judo stars, Riner in the +100 kg category and Agbégnénou in the -63 kg category, are among the ten judokas confirmed by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) for the upcoming Summer Games.

The roster includes other Tokyo Olympics medalists such as Amandine Buchard (-52 kg), Sarah-Léonie Cysique (-57 kg), Romane Dicko (+78 kg), and Luka Mkheidze (-60 kg).

The selection also features Shirine Boukli (-48 kg), Marie-Eve Gahié (-70 kg), Walide Khyar (-66 kg), and Alpha Djalo (-81 kg). With eight months to go until the Olympics, four categories are yet to be determined, one for women and three for men.

Teddy Riner, expressing his excitement during a press conference, remarked, «These will be my fifth Olympic Games, and it’s a great source of pride because people often tend to write you off, but I always come back».

Riner, a bronze medallist in Tokyo 2021, aims to achieve a third individual victory in Paris, building on his triumphs in 2012 and 2016.

He emphasized, «Being selected is one thing, but going to the Olympics is about performing and bringing back the most beautiful of medals».
