Mali reinforces agricultural sovereignty at high-level farming council Session

Mali has reaffirmed its commitment to food sovereignty during the 15th session of the Supreme Agricultural Council, chaired by President Assimi Goïta. The high-level meeting brought together government officials, agricultural stakeholders, and development partners to solidify farming as the cornerstone of national recovery.
Under President Goïta’s leadership, Mali is implementing robust support measures for farmers, including subsidies for inputs, mechanization programs, land access reforms, and credit facilities.
These policies reflect a determined push to build a resilient, productive, and self-sufficient rural economy.
Preliminary results showcase progress despite challenges: 11 million tons of cereals, 640,000 tons of cotton, and 113,000 tons of fish produced this season. Price stabilization mechanisms have also been introduced to ensure affordability for the 2025 farming campaign.
As member states of the Sahel States Confederation (AES) pursue regional sovereignty, Mali is pioneering an equitable and sustainable agricultural model. The nation’s focus on food self-sufficiency, farmer empowerment, and local resource utilization marks a transformative step toward economic independence.
