Togo: Lomé carves out a place for itself in the global textile industry

The President of the Council, His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, officially inaugurated the STAR GARMENTS TOGO textile factory on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Adétikopé Industrial Platform (PIA). This event marks a major milestone in Togo’s industrialization strategy and its ambition to become a regional textile hub.
The factory, born from a partnership between the Komar Group and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), represents an investment of $15 million, or approximately 9 billion CFA francs. It is part of a broader effort to promote the manufacturing sector and create sustainable jobs for Togo’s youth.
STAR GARMENTS TOGO will produce garments for export, further strengthening Togo’s competitiveness in the global textile value chain. Its strategic location within the PIA provides easy access to international markets, thanks to the proximity of the Lomé Autonomous Port, now a key logistical asset in the region.
This investment also reflects international investors’ confidence in Togo’s business climate, supported by stable governance, ambitious structural reforms, and active government involvement. The role of the PIA as a driving force of Togo’s industrialization continues to grow, with several new projects currently in the pipeline.
