Emilio Nsue emerges as Puma Top Scorer in the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023

In a campaign that may have ended in the round of sixteen for Equatorial Guinea, their captain, Emilio Nsue, stands out as the leading goal-scorer adorned in Puma gear in the AFCON TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations held in Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.

Nsue commenced his impactful journey with the Nzalang Nacional by notching an impressive hat-trick against Guinea-Bissau during the second matchday, setting the tone for a memorable run in the tournament.

The dynamic forward continued his scoring spree by netting a brace against the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, in a resounding 4-0 victory on the final matchday of the group stage.

Despite Equatorial Guinea’s exit from the competition in the knockout stage, Nsue’s goal-scoring prowess has left an indelible mark on the Puma roster.

In achieving this feat, Emilio Nsue joins an illustrious list of top goal-scorers, including legendary names like Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Vincent Aboubakar, and Odion Ighalo, who have previously clinched the title of leading goal-scorer in the history of the CAF TotalEnergies competition.

Following closely in the goal-scoring charts are Angola’s Jacinto Dala and Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed, both with four goals apiece.

Nsue’s contribution not only places him in the pantheon of goal-scoring elites but also adds a remarkable chapter to Equatorial Guinea’s journey in the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023.
