Burkina-Faso: The government releases CFAF 1.7 billion for free health services for pensioners

The Burkinabe government, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, continues to enhance its social initiatives alongside its efforts to reclaim national territory. These initiatives include the construction of healthcare facilities, reductions in the cost of certain medical services, the imminent launch of universal health insurance, and the provision of free annual medical check-ups for retirees, all showcasing the government’s commitment not only to ensuring peace and security but also to promoting the well-being of its citizens.

This commitment to the Burkinabe populace is once again underscored by the commencement of the 10th edition of the annual medical check-ups for retirees and surviving spouses, which comes with an additional benefit.

Apart from the medical check-up itself, each retiree will receive a medicine voucher valued at 5000 FCFA.

This financial support, totaling 467,285,000 FCFA, was allocated by the state.

According to Basolma Bazié, the Minister of Public Service, Labor, and Social Protection, this program affirms the «universal right to health for all citizens, particularly retirees», emphasizing the government’s solidarity with the Burkinabe population.

The beneficiaries have expressed their appreciation to the authorities for their dedication to meeting the people’s needs and fulfilling their expectations.
