DRC : Félix Tshisekedi promises socio-economic transformation with the Banana port in Muanda

The Congolese Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, who is also a candidate in the forthcoming presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo, shared his vision of a prosperous future for the town of Muanda in a campaign speech on Monday 20 November. At the heart of this socio-economic transformation is the Banana deep-water port, an ambitious project which, according to Tshisekedi, «will significantly transform socio-economic life in the town of Muanda, generating numerous jobs».

In his speech, candidate Félix Tshisekedi emphasised the positive impact expected from the port, predicting that ships of various types would dock there and that job opportunities would be created for young people in the region.

«The town is going to be developed», he added, calling on the population to prepare by taking part in training courses and creating sub-contracting initiatives in anticipation of the economic boom to come.

In Boma, President-candidate Félix Tshisekedi also announced his commitment to extending free education to the secondary level.

This measure is designed to ease the financial burden on Congolese families, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to education and access to it.

Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, who is currently campaigning in the province of Kongo-Central, plans to inaugurate a number of local development projects, including the opening of a building for the Local Development Programme in 145 territories.

In addition, a newly built morgue within the Kitona military base hospital will also be inaugurated during his stay.

For the moment, candidate number 20 is continuing his campaign with stops planned in Singini and Tshela in the coming days.
