Burkina Faso: Over 101 billion FCFA mobilized for the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP) in six months

The Patriotic Support Fund (FSP) of Burkina Faso recorded an exceptional mobilization of over 101 billion CFA francs in the first half of 2025, according to a report recently published by the authorities. This achievement brings the country closer to its annual target of 150 billion CFA francs aimed at supporting the national defense effort.

Between January 1 and June 30, 2025, exactly 101.8 billion CFA francs were raised, reflecting the strong involvement of citizens, businesses, and public institutions.

A multisectoral mobilization

As of June 22, cumulative receipts amounted to 96.7 billion CFA francs, distributed as follows:

  • Tax levies: 56 billion CFA francs, including SODIBO/BRAKINA (26.8 billion), the special contribution on profits (22.8 billion), LIBS BRASSERIES (2.6 billion), and other industrial companies such as DAFANI, MABUCIG, and TWELLIUM.
  • Income taxes (civil service): 17.7 billion CFA francs.
  • Customs: 8.8 billion CFA francs from imported goods.
  • Private sector salaries: 4.1 billion CFA francs.
  • Voluntary contributions: 926 million CFA francs from citizens and organizations.
  • Voluntary salary deductions (civil servants): 764 million CFA francs.
  • Specific resources (notably LONAB): 116 million CFA francs.

Efficient budget execution

On the expenditure side, 89.4 billion CFA francs were committed, and 70.1 billion CFA francs effectively paid, out of a forecast of 92.4 billion, representing an execution rate of 78.42%. The funds were mainly allocated to two areas:

  • Social expenses: 39.3 billion CFA francs, mainly for operational bonuses for the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), as well as food, health, training, and compensation for beneficiaries.
  • Military equipment: 30.7 billion CFA francs, with an execution rate of nearly 70%.

A strengthened national commitment

This half-year performance reflects Burkina Faso’s determination to actively support its security and defense policy. The momentum underway raises hopes of surpassing the annual target, in a context where national solidarity plays a key role in resilience against security challenges.
