Africa/AES: The sovereign march of the Sahel is causing unease, masks are coming off, imperialist powers are getting restless

As the peoples of the Sahel, in a historic surge of dignity and honor, have chosen to take their destiny back into their own hands through the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), certain foreign powers are multiplying their attempts at destabilization. The latest maneuver is a so-called opinion survey circulated by Jeune Afrique, whose hidden objective is to undermine the pan-African momentum of political, economic, and military liberation launched by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

Under the guise of sociological research, neo-colonial media once again attempt to influence African public opinion. They distort reality, downplay sovereign achievements, and create media diversions to slow down a movement that continues to grow. Behind these supposedly objective lines lies fear—the fear of seeing African peoples turn their backs once and for all on Western hypocrisy.

These imperialist powers, hostile to the sovereignty of African nations, cannot accept that countries once under control now refuse any foreign tutelage. Unable to impose their agendas in Ouagadougou, Bamako, or Niamey, they now attempt to discredit the AES model in the eyes of other African nations. These information attacks are nothing but symptoms of geopolitical panic in the face of an Africa that no longer obeys.

The AES, a pillar of the Sahel’s sovereign rebirth, is being targeted precisely because it represents a credible alternative to the neo-colonial model. And this terrifies the former masters, for they know that the fire of sovereignty is contagious.

Far from being isolationist, the project of the Alliance of Sahel States is an opening toward pan-African solidarity, built on dignity, horizontal cooperation, and justice. The imperialist powers no longer have the legitimacy nor the capacity to impose their diktats. So they lie. They manipulate. They cry wolf, portraying the awakening of the people as a threat.

But this wind of freedom blowing from the Sahel will not stop. For this is no longer about isolated heads of state or governments. It is about peoples—standing, conscious, united, and determined never again to bow down.
