Togo/Development: Togo consolidates its position as a logistics hub and economic development corridor

Considered as a hub country in the West African sub-region, Togo is stepping up its efforts, confirming its role as a logistical hub for transit through two major projects: the expansion of the Unity Road (RN°1) and the construction of a railway connecting Lomé to Cinkassé.

These significant projects, included in the government roadmap and estimated at $6.5 billion, have received financial support from the African Development Bank (AfDB), a strategic partner in African development, and foreign investors.

Ultimately, they will promote sub-regional integration, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and enhance trade between states.

Most importantly, they will reduce the travel costs on the Lomé-Ouaga corridor.

This project, gaining further momentum, is the result of a public-private partnership, a financing model for the national economy promoted by the Head of State, Faure Gnassingbé.

It aligns with the intensive infrastructure development process that Togo has committed to.

Indeed, the Togolese government is determined to make Togo a developed economic model and a reference in Africa.

All policies, reforms, and programs reinforce this vision.

Already, the Autonomous Port of Lomé, the first West African container port, and the Lomé International Airport strengthen this position as a logistical hub and an economic development corridor.

All of this is the result of the government’s hard work, strategic vision, commitment, and that of its technical and financial partners.
