DRC: Tshisekedi in campaign for a Second term

On December 20, more than 44 million registered Congolese voters will be called to the polls. Tens of thousands of candidates, including 26 vying for the presidency, officially kicked off their one-month electoral campaign this Sunday.

Felix Tshisekedi, the incumbent president and candidate of the Sacred Union of the Nation (USN), aims to continue his strategy for economic independence.

He started his campaign ambitiously with a rally at the Martyrs’ Stadium in Kinshasa.

«In order to halt the depreciation of the national currency against foreign currencies, due to low local production, we have chosen to start with the revitalization of agriculture, a reliable channel to achieve economic independence for the DRC», he declared in his speech.

«There is also the fight to enhance the value of the Congolese franc against the US dollar, for which the government is working diligently to meet this challenge», he added.

Felix Tshisekedi reiterated his commitment to the homeland and the Congolese people, urging the population to re-elect him on December 20.

It’s worth noting that over 30,000 kilometers of national and urban roads were constructed during President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi’s first term across the entire territory.

In the health sector, several healthcare facilities were built and others renovated during Félix Tshisekedi’s tenure.

More than 1,000 well-equipped health centers were constructed as part of the development program in 145 territories, among other achievements.

While Tshisekedi’s first term is criticized by the Congolese opposition, his record on governance is more positive than that of his predecessors.

A second term would allow him to continue in this momentum.
