Togo/G20 Summit: President Faure GNASSINGBE can be pleased with the conclusions of the proceedings

Togolese President Faure GNASSINGBE can be delighted with the conclusions reached at the 4th summit of the G20 Compact with Africa (G20-CwA), held in Berlin on Monday 20 November.

During his speech, the Togolese Head of State pleaded with his German peers and partners for access to sustainable energy.

This is a social necessity, not only to supply rural areas with electricity, but also to protect the environment, given that people in these areas use biomass as an alternative to electricity.

He therefore called on German investors and partners to pay particular attention to the energy sector in Africa, in this era of the fight for climate adaptation and the energy transition.

Above all, he urged them to move on from words to concrete action in order to help developing countries affected by climate change to find appropriate solutions.

According to information on the conclusions reached at the end of the summit, Germany announced that it would support the joint EU-Africa green energy initiative to the tune of €4 billion between now and 2030.

In addition, private investors have been invited to give priority to financing projects to diversify renewable energy sources, in order to achieve a better energy transition.

These are major decisions that respond to the concerns of the President of the Togolese Republic, Faure GNASSINGBE.

It should be noted that Togo is committed to diversifying its energy mix. Today, it has 66% electricity coverage in towns and 27% in rural areas.

Togo intends to close this gap by speeding up the expansion of renewable energy, so that all Togolese can benefit from this energy, which is so crucial to their daily lives.
