Burkina Faso: requisitioning for the fight against terrorism, a clear desire on the part of CSOs and trade unions, a patriotic commitment
Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s regime has succeeded in reorganising the army to make it more effective against terrorists. The reconquest of the territory is becoming a reality in Burkina Faso. In what way does patriotic action for the freedom of one’s country constitute a violation of human rights?
Self-proclaimed defenders of human rights or opinion leaders in Burkina Faso want to signal their presence and commitment to the cause of the people of Burkina Faso.
And the best place to do so is at the front. Those who have joined the ranks of the VDP have the same rights as their detractors.
You don’t criticise if you can’t do better than those who are already making the effort.
Perhaps a contribution from the trade unions and CSOs will help Burkina to cope with the terrorists.
Those who like to talk tough will show their commitment, as they like to say, alongside the FDS and VDP at the front.
Human Rights Watch, a reputable organisation, needs to carry out analyses before issuing its reports.
Individuals who see things as they really are have decided to go against the collective vision, just because they have been bribed.
They denigrate the efforts of the valiant soldiers, who are doing a commendable job against the enemy. These CSOs want to demoralise the FDS and the people.
In Burkina Faso, every citizen has a part to play. Hiding behind one’s smartphone to minimise the efforts of the authorities will no longer do.
Others take the liberty of organising press conferences, just to pass bad judgement on those in power. The question is, what have they done to support the struggle?
When these people contribute to the manipulation of the country, Human Rights Watch is at a loss for words.
But when it comes to the reaction of the authorities, all the human rights laws come out.
So-called opinion leaders must be role models for their supporters. Their integration into the armed forces at the front is a sign of their commitment to their country.
