Alessandra Bianchi: Fond Farewell to the Iconic Voice of Italian Football in France

France mourns the loss of Alessandra Bianchi, the esteemed Italian football ambassador, who departed at the age of 59. Renowned for her contributions to Le Parisien, L’Équipe, and Canal+, where she served as a commentator on the iconic L’Équipe du dimanche show, Bianchi held a special place as the resonant voice of Italian football in the hearts of French fans. The news of her untimely passing was confirmed by the Italian Newspaper La Repubblica on Tuesday evening.

Lega Pro, the former Serie C (Italian third division football league), paid tribute to this «highly esteemed journalist» and «extraordinary person». President Matteo Marani and the entire Lega Pro extended heartfelt condolences to the Bianchi family during this difficult time.

Alessandra Bianchi, celebrated for her role as the football consultant on Canal+’s once-popular show dedicated to the top four European football leagues, «L’Équipe du dimanche», since 2005, commenced her career with the Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport.

Later, she became the Italian correspondent for “L’Équipe” and “Le Parisien”.

Identifiable by her distinctive raspy voice, charming Italian accent, and unabashed love for Roma and Francesco Totti, Bianchi transitioned from television to radio in 2006.

In 2008, she penned «Calcio, mon Amour», a book inspired by her life, delving into the football passion of Andrea, a 7-year-old Roman.

The book chronicles her arduous journey to becoming a sports journalist in the predominantly male domain of football.

The legacy of Alessandra Bianchi lives on in the hearts of football enthusiasts on both sides of the Alps.
