AFCON 2023: Partnership with the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Cody’s Drink triumphs over Castel
The German giant Cody’s Drink International, specializing in the production of beer and energy drinks, has ultimately emerged victorious in the duel against the French company Castel. Despite attempts by certain Ivorian authorities to undermine the productions of the German company through smear campaigns, this partnership contract between the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) and Cody’s Drink, at the expense of Castel, raises questions about Ivorian authorities.
For the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 to be held in Côte d’Ivoire, the Company of Lemonades and Refreshing Beverages of Africa (SOLIBRA), a Ivorian subsidiary of Castel, sought a partnership contract with the FIF, as did Cody’s Drink.
According to reports, SOLIBRA used all its influence to prevail. Names mentioned in SOLIBRA’s lobbying include Yacine Idriss Diallo, president of the FIF, Malick Tohé, vice president in charge of marketing, and A’Salfo from the Ivorian group Magic System, the promoter of the Anoumabo Festival FEMUA, sponsored by SOLIBRA.
However, their efforts were in vain. Even the intervention of Total Energies, the historical partner of CAF, did not change the outcome.
In the end, it was the German company Cody’s that secured the partnership with the FIF, amounting to 300,000 euros, as opposed to 230,000 euros for Castel.
Once again, it is evident that the recent unfair competition launched against Cody’s was intentional and manipulative. This situation underscores that the truth always eventually comes to light.
